It’s spring! It just might be my favorite season. After a cold, dreary winter, spring is such a welcome time of new growth, new beginnings and new initiatives.
In 2022, Shriners Children’s celebrated 100 years of improving the lives of the world’s children. As we begin our second century, we remain deeply committed to our mission of providing care, conducting research and offering educational opportunities for medical professionals. We are also determined to reach more children who need us and to care for our patients closer to their homes. To achieve this goal, we are streamlining our domestic and international outreach efforts, establishing additional locations in Mexico, strengthening our telehealth effort and creating new affiliations. In addition, we are adapting our healthcare locations to ensure they care for our patients and families as effectively as possible. We look forward to improving even more lives as these innovations are implemented.
Spring has been called the season of hope. Throughout the year – during all the seasons – Shriners Children’s is a place of hope and healing. We are dedicated to doing everything we can to help our patients discover how much they can accomplish and achieve. We want our patients to believe in their dreams
and goals. In this edition of Leaders in Care, we showcase stories of how our occupational and physical therapies, as well as adaptive programs and devices, make a real difference for our patients. We are so proud of all our patients and are honored to share their stories with you now and throughout the year.

Every time I look at my hands I’m reminded of just how important and loved everyone can be. While my hands are my own, the scars show endless hard work, passion and love others have supported me with in order to live life as much as I possibly can. That insurmountable support you and your team have given me throughout your life journeys of studying, late nights and communication with each other is truly a love that’s so unimaginable.
