The compassion, experience and expertise of our medical team are what set Shriners Children’s apart from other pediatric healthcare systems. We are proud to share that two Shriners Children’s employees were recently honored by the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.

Dr. Frances Farley received an award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America for her work with Shriners Children’s.
Chief Medical Officer Frances A. Farley, M.D., received the Distinguished Achievement Award for her work in pediatric orthopedics, unwavering dedication to improving the lives of children and exemplary leadership within the medical community. It is one of the highest honors in pediatric orthopedics, recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field over the course of their career through clinical care, education, research, leadership and service. As only the second woman so honored, Dr. Farley said the award carries special significance to her. “Throughout my career, I’ve made a point to mentor women,” Dr. Farley said. “I’m looking forward to the future of pediatric orthopedics and seeing more women making a huge difference in the field.”
In addition, orthopedic surgeon J. Eric Gordon, M.D., of Shriners Children’s St. Louis, received the Humanitarian Award recognizing his work improving the lives of children throughout the Eastern Caribbean and beyond. Dr. Gordon’s reputation is far-reaching, and he regularly receives inquiries from across the country seeking his advice and help with complex patient cases. Dr. Gordon himself was born with bilateral clubfoot and knows firsthand the importance of receiving specialized care.
